Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

When should I schedule my tax appointment?

We recommend scheduling your appointment as early as possible, especially during tax season. Early preparation helps avoid last-minute issues and ensures timely filing.

What happens if I can’t file my return by the deadline?

If you cannot file by the deadline, we can file an extension on your behalf. An extension gives you more time to file, but not more time to pay any taxes owed.

Do I need to pay taxes if I file an extension?

Yes. Any estimated taxes owed should be paid by the original due date to avoid penalties and interest, even if an extension is filed.

How long should I keep my tax records?

We recommend keeping tax returns and supporting documents for at least seven (7) years. Business records and asset-related documents should be kept longer.

What should I do if I receive a letter from the IRS or state tax agency?

Do not ignore the notice. Many letters are informational or request clarification. Contact our office immediately so we can review the notice and respond appropriately.

Do you offer IRS representation?

Yes. As a CPA firm, we are authorized to represent clients before the IRS and state tax agencies for audits, notices, and payment arrangements.

Do I need to make estimated tax payments?

Estimated tax payments are typically required if you are self-employed, a business owner, or receive income without tax withholding. We can help determine if estimated payments are necessary and calculate the correct amounts.

Can you help with prior-year or unfiled tax returns?

Yes. We assist clients with delinquent and prior-year tax returns and work to bring accounts into compliance while minimizing penalties when possible.

Is my information kept confidential?

Absolutely. We adhere to strict confidentiality standards and professional ethics to protect all client information.

Do you work with small businesses and self-employed individuals?

Yes. We specialize in helping small businesses, freelancers, and independent contractors with tax planning, bookkeeping, and compliance.
